Recycling at Home in Chicago and at Chicago Market: The Tricks to Getting it Right

Want to learn more about recycling in Chicago? Want to make your home, business or life more green? Want to divert more of your waste into something productive, rather than to a landfill?

This free class will offer some of the lesser known recycling facts for Chicago and touch on other waste diversion tips pertaining to hazardous materials, non-traditional recyclables and composting.  

It will also focus on some relevant information for new businesses to keep in mind to ensure waste diversion is an integrated part of their business plan.  Students can expect to leave far more clear on the background of Chicago recycling and how to sort waste.  Business owners will be given operational tools including staff training ideas and purchasing policy recommendations to run a business with as little landfill contribution as possible.

Presenter is Laura Mathews from Miss Green Genes

Laura is a Sustainability Professional who has worked in industries including food & beverage, sports management and waste management and specializes in operational efficiency, waste diversion and education.  As Miss Green Genes, she operates a sustainable arts & services that focus on reclaiming furniture, creating unique canvas pieces and educating citizens on their local sustainability initiatives.
