We are proud to announce that Chicago Market will be coming to the Wilson CTA Stop in Uptown.
The CTA has accepted Chicago Market's bid for the property, the lease is signed, and the CTA Board has approved the deal. Chicago Market's elected Board of Directors has negotiated diligently on behalf of all of the Owners of the Market, and this is a great deal for all the parties involved.
The 13,000 square foot, immaculately restored historic Gerber Building will become the home of Chicago's newest local, sustainable grocery store, and the home of one of the nation's largest start-up food co-ops. What an accomplishment! From the enthusiastic folks who attended our initial community meetings organized by founder Greg Berlowitz to a dedicated Steering Committee to an elected Board of Directors, Chicago Market has grown to a community of more than 1000 Owners, all dedicated to the idea that grocery shopping can be awesome, delicious and fun.
And it couldn't have happened without each and every one of you. Your enthusiasm for bringing this store to Uptown has helped make it a reality, and helped to show CTA that there is a huge amount of community support for Chicago Market.
This is a huge milestone, but there's still a long way to go. We need to expand our community to 2000 Owners by the end of 2018. That's why this is the perfect time to join our community, become an Owner and share the news with your friends and neighbors.
Before the store opens, we have permitting, construction and an Owner Loan campaign to run. There's fundraising to do and designs to make and employees to hire, and it'll be a ton of work. And we need your help to make it a reality.
