A hearty Chicago Market "Welcome" to the Nandi family, Owner #1160, who joined due to the sense of urgency about getting to 2000 by year's end. Read all about them...
Tell us your full name – as well as who else shares your fridge.
We are Lizzie and Neil Nandi, and we share our fridge and our home with our daughter Sierra, who is 11 months old.
What motivated you to become Owners of Chicago Market?
We have only lived in Uptown for about a year, but we have felt more of a sense of community here than anyplace else we have lived. We are excited for an establishment that feels so connected to the city and the neighborhood... and that will use the Gerber Building space so beautifully!
Plus, when we learned that Chicago Market will not open if it does not meet its Owner target by year’s end, we joined immediately to help bring such a great new establishment to the neighborhood.
What type of work do you do?
I am a pediatric nurse and Neil is a lawyer.
What else is really important to you…and why?
Family, travel and experiences. We especially enjoy spending time together and being outdoors. We love National Parks, road trips and baseball games. We also like sitting on our deck and drinking coffee (or beer!).
Is there something new you’d like to learn or pursue…either now or someday?
I would like to learn how to make macarons and have a container garden.
Neil wants to learn to drive a stick shift!
Do you have a favorite food or “signature dish”?
Neil makes a delicious, spicy fennel-kissed chicken curry. (Neil...feel free to share your recipe on Chicago Market's FB page!)
I make “the best” turkey burger and love to make any and all breakfast food. (Ditto, Lizzie!)
What’s your ‘one wish come true” for Chicago Market? It might be a product for our shelves, a program you’d like to see us offer, a location – you name it!
We want to have good, fresh fish available. And would love cooking classes - for adults and kids!
What three words best describe you?
Practical. Curious. Deliberative.

Neil is also taking his commitment to making Chicago Market happen a step further by stepping up as a volunteer with us. Thanks Neil!
