Co-op Fan Samuel Wold joins Chicago Market!

We're glad to have Sam Wold (although maybe not his furry friend) as yet another Owner of Chicago Market, #1558!

Tell us your full name – as well as who else shares your fridge.

Samuel Wold.

What motivated you to become an Owner of Chicago Market?

I was a member of Just Food Co-op in Northfield, MN when I was teaching in Minnesota. I was one of the founding members there as well. I believe in sustainability and supporting our local community - including farmers.

What type of work do you do?

I am a high school world history teacher. I also teach a human rights elective and an indigenous histories elective. I coach soccer and tennis and also lead student trips.

What else is really important to you…and why?

Besides the obvious (friends, family, etc), I love exploring the great outdoors, travel, live music, social justice, and cookies!

Is there something new you’d like to learn or pursue…either now or someday?

I would like to become more fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

Do you have a favorite food or “signature dish”?

I love most types of cuisine, but Turkish is one of my favorites! I am also a cookie aficionado.

What’s your ‘one wish come true” for Chicago Market? It might be a product for our shelves, a program you’d like to see us offer, a location – you name it!

It would be great to have Chicago Market get connected with youth in the area (and youth at my school) to offer internships, etc.

What three words best describe you?

Geez, I have to do this for student college recommendations all the time. The tide has turned.

Adventurous. Goofy. Genuine.
