Annual Meeting

Co-ops are different from other businesses because Owners participate in them—it's Cooperative Principle #2, Democratic Member Control.

One way they do that is by attending the Annual Meeting and participating in Board elections. The Annual Meeting covered finances, Owner growth, volunteer efforts, and sustainability. Thank you to all the Owners who have been so powerfully participating in the democracy and community building of your Co-op recently!

We didn't get everyone in our group photo, but here are some of us!

Elections

316 Owners voted in our election filling four director seats.

New Director
We have one new Board member joining us — Maribelle Gomez, and orientation has already started for her!

Incumbents
The incumbents running were also re-elected: Chris Burns, Grant Kessler, and John Law.

Board Meeting Change

The Board has moved its monthly meetings to the second Tuesday of the month, beginning in November. Owners are always welcome at Board meetings and they are listed on the Events tab of our website to RSVP.

Follow along on the process of your store with this visual of our Timeline.

CONSTRUCTION PREP
Our construction team took our project out to bid with various subcontractors and their bids have all come back to us. We'll be rebidding a few, but the bidding is almost complete.

Interior design and decor is undergoing some revisions now in response to feedback from the Board.

PERMIT
Nine city departments have reviewed and approved our construction drawings and five departmental approvals remain in order for our construction permit to be issued.

BANK LOAN
Our GM met with our lender in Washington, D.C. just last week and they assure us we're their top priority We did learn from them that they'll be requiring a rider on the loan that stipulates we may not draw funds until our TIF closing is finalized. Our TIF team and lawyers are working on that now.
