Hazzard Free Farm Partnership Success

Co-ops are different for many reasons and one of the most exciting is that we are mission- and vision-driven. All the work we do is guided by our Mission, Vision and Values, which we as Owners crafted together.

Although we're not open yet, we can still deliver on our Vision of a local, sustainable, connected food community that supports transparency around food sourcing and the building of strong relationships. Enter our To Market, To Market team who just strengthened our relationship to Andy Hazzard at Hazzard Free Farm as well as the folks at her three partner farms, Wind Ridge Herb Farm, Gretta's Goats and Pecatonica River Honey.

Their initiative to bring Grain Sampler and Partner Sampler boxes to you was a big success and yielded these results:
  • Hazzard Free Grain Sampler boxes sold = 15
  • Partner Sampler boxes sold = 24
  • Total money raised for the farmers = $1,620
Andy was pretty happy to work with us and shared a wonderful note in her boxes, more proof that Chicago Market is helping connect you to your farm. Here's an excerpt:

"Your purchase through Chicago Market means you will receive local, regeneratively grown food, and that is the answer to ALL of the issues surrounding climate change, agriculture, your health and your community's health!"  - Andy Hazzard

Kate and Matthew on our team made the drive out to Andy's farm to pick things up, which saved her the shipping charges and means we got some farm pictures. Who doesn't love a cute baby pig picture!

How Can You Support Your Co-op Now?

While the Board continues to work with the CTA and our consultants on the operational side of things, Owners can help with the Funding and Organizational side by Leveling Up your Ownership to the Cultivating level;
donating or pledging a loan; volunteering; and by sharing your enthusiasm for your Co-op with your friends and on social media.
