Run for the Chicago Market Board
Annual Board elections are happening this summer! With Owner growth, funding and store design in process, our Co-op needs dedicated individuals to guide the organization. If you are interested in running for the Board, or exploring what being on the Board looks like, read here to learn more and connect with us. You can also view meeting minutes from a previous Board meeting on our Blog. Serving on the Board is a meaningful, fun and collaborative experience that will help build Chicago's largest co-op grocery store!

Building Our Co-op Will Take a Village
Building a cooperatively owned and democratically run grocery store from the ground up requires more dedicated Owners like yourself. Design and construction takes funding and that’s why we need to hit 2000 Owners by year’s end. Share these key Owner benefits with your friends and neighbors or send them to our next Ownership Info Session to encourage them to join Chicago Market!
- We are Owner-run! Chicago Market is not beholden to corporate shareholders
- Each Owner will have a voice and a vote
- Owners can run for Chicago Market Board positions
- When you become an Owner, everyone in your household can enjoy the benefits of your Ownership
- Owner-only sales and specials, discounts on workshops and special events, and at the Board's discretion in profitable years, an annual patronage refund
- Help strengthen and uplift the diversity in our Uptown community as we work and partner with local nonprofits to provide employment and improve healthy, sustainable food options for all
- Gain access to the Owners Only portal on our Co-op website.
In fact, the first Owner to recruit a friend will win one free class at Peterson Garden Project's cooking school. Have your friend mention you during their checkout process and we'll send you a discount code. (must be used by the end of August; excludes the Scraps to Feast class)
Need another great way to invite your like-minded friends to learn more about our Co-op? Host a house party! We will help make hosting as easy as possible by providing a kit with instructions and check lists, tips and pointers, brochures and posters for your guests, tote bags for new Owners who join at the party and more. We can even arrange for one of our leadership teams to come and speak to your group and answer any questions your friends might have about our Co-op.
